Lil Herb Announces ‘Welcome To Fazoland’ Release Date

Fans no longer have to wait much longer for Chicago MC Lil Herb’s solo debut mixtape “Welcome To Fazoland.”

Herb announced the project is slated to drop in only a matter of weeks.

“WelcomeToFazoLand 2k14 Minor set Back For Ah Major Come Back Can’t Rush Greatness #NeverLeaveMyBrotherz #NLMB

“@WELCOMETOFAZOLAND DROP FEB.17 ON #FAZO BIRTHDAY… NOW YALL HEARD IT FROM ME!” Herb wrote on Twitter.

Lil Herb first made mention of the project in early 2013. But Herb had more incentive to make the project one to remember after Drake referred to him and Lil Bibby as “the future” in a direct message.

According to the message, Drake writes, “Streets need that TAPE! I’m waiting on it, You and Herb the future.”

Haters might’ve argued Herb wasn’t deserving of the co-sign. But Herb went on to release several solid tracks that were worthy of fan recognition.

Lil Herb gave listeners a vivid account of the city now known as “Chiraq” in the single “4 Minutes Of Hell Pt. 3.”

Lil Herb unleashed four minutes of fiery bars in this track’s third installment where he gives listeners a personal tour of his Hell.

Herb raps, “My hunger is equal to my struggle/I came from nothing, grinded and I made it something/The age of a youngin, started hanging and bangin and hustling/To caging and customs to make it in this dangerous jungle/In a treacherous war, people dying, nobody crying/All the shit that I saw, you expect me to sit on the porch.”

Herb talked his come up in new single “A Year Ago,” a DJ L production.

Herb has his sights set on riches, rapping, “You might catch me in the club, counting number one hundreds/Juvenile with Cash Money, I’m the number one stunter/Foreign whips all summer, riding tinted, getting blunter/And they all different colors, so you never see me coming.”

Lil Herb named forthcoming mixtape after his fallen brethren.

“I got the name of the tape from my homie,” Herb said. “He passed away. His name is Fazon. We called him Fazo. We named our hood after Fazoland. ‘Welcome To Fazoland,’ I’ma give em where I came from, tell em what’s going on out here. It’s a really a story, I’m tryna tell a story. Who I am and where I’m from and how I got to where I am right now.”
