Lil Herb says police corruption is real in his hometown of Chiraq. According to G Herbo, there are little consequences for members of the CPD who don’t honor their badge.
The “Pistol P Project” rapper expounded on the matter during an interview with VladTV.
“Police corruption is on the daily,” he told VladTV. “I been hit by police officers…slapped, punched, all type of sh-t. Police don’t give a f-ck about us. You can’t really speak on it. It’s your word against their word. I got homies who done been beat by police and got lawsuits growing up. Police corruption is everywhere in Chicago.”
Herb even had a friend who was gunned down by police.
“My homie Fazion best friend Zale died two weeks after him,” he said. “He got killed by the police. I don’t even think it made the news. That’s what go on. People get killed by the police all the time. It’s numerous occasions police done gunned people down saying they had a gun, no gun was found. Or even if they did have a gun. They a see the handle on their waist and start shooting. They didn’t even propose a threat. They could’ve got that gun off of them. That sh-t go on in my city all the time.”
Herb doesn’t think his City would even come together to protest police brutality due to high rate of black-on-black killings.
There were 425 homicide victims recorded in 2014 compared to 421 in 2013, according to DNAinfo. Chicago Tribune reports there were 2,599 shooting victims recorded in 2014 compared to 2,272 in 2013, a 14 percent increase.
“I don’t think my city is even unified enough to act on something like that,” he said. “You know how Ferguson doing stuff like that. My City probably do it for a couple days, but they gone forget about it. Everybody dying in my City. Not from police. It’s people killing each other. They gon march when a black person kill another black person? It’s gone be marches everyday. It’s not gon work in my city.”
