“Straight Outta Compton” is continuing to shatter records after an impressive $60.2 million earned in its opening weekend. The film sparked reactions out of many Hip Hop entertainers.
“‘Straight Outta Compton’ was A1,” he wrote on Twitter. “I seen a lot of messages and lessons in that movie. A lot of musicians needed that. S/O to @icecube n @drdre.”
The N.W.A. biopic is expected to remain in the No. 1 spot at the box office in its second weekend and earn around $30 million, according to Billboard.
The R-rated film chronicles the rise of one of Hip Hop’s most controversial groups in the 1980s. It stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. as his father Ice Cube; Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre; Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E; Aldis Hodge as MC Ren and Neil Brown Jr. as DJ Yella.
Cube and Dre served as the film’s producers.
