Mountain Dew, whose parent company is PepsiCi, pulled an online after many critics purported the spot to be ‘racist.’
Rapper Tyler the Creator, the mastermind behind the commercial, chose a controversial approach after incorporating racial stereotypes in the ad.
In the commercial, a woman who was the victim of a violent assault, is to select her aggressor from a lineup. The suspects include several African American men and a goat.
PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew issued an official apology after the spot drew criticism via Twitter.
“Hey guys- made a big mistake we’ve removed the offensive video from all our channels. #fail” a spokesman for Mountain Dew wrote.
