Rick Ross can breathe a huge sigh of relief after he escaped prison in his kidnapping and assault case. Ross was accused of pistol-whipping construction workers at his $7.5 million Georgia home in June 2015.
Ross pleaded no contest Tuesday to misdemeanor kidnapping and assault, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports. Ross’s charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges.
Ross, born William Leonard Roberts, and his bodyguard Nadrian Lateef James were reportedly sentenced to probation, Fayette County District Attorney Benjamin D. Coke told AJC.
“The resolution to the case was reached after discussion with the prosecution team, victims and law enforcement,” Coker said. “It was the best resolution to the case considering the facts and circumstances at hand.”
Ross enlisted the help of his bodyguard James to help beat the workers who threw a party at his home without permission.
The workers allegedly suffered extensive injuries in the head and face after being beat with a Glock handgun, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. One man reportedly suffered two chipped teeth and a neck injury.
“The victim lost use of his jaw and is restricted to soft foods and liquid diet only as a result of not being able to chew food,” arrest warrants obtained by AJC state.
Ross also pleaded no contest to five misdemeanors, and was given five years of probation, Daily Mail reports. He was additionally ordered to pay a $10,000 fine. As a first time felony offender, the conviction will be erased once the money is paid.
Ross was pleased with the outcome of his case.
“First and foremost, I wanna say God is great,” Ross said. “I respect and appreciate how the court shows to resolve not only myself but my codefendant cases. It is important to both of us that we put this situation behind us for the benefits of my mother, my sister, my family, friends, all my fans and supporters.”
