Tay-K, only 19, will be spend the next 55 years of his life in prison. Tay-K’s sister Kayla Renee took to social media to call Tay-K’s lengthy sentence too harsh because of his age, saying he did nothing violent
In July 2019, a Tarrant County jury punished 19-year-old rapper with a lengthy sentenced for his role in a deadly 2016 home invasion robbery that claimed the life of 21-year-old Ethan Walker, and wounded Zachary Beloate.
It took the jury only three hours to reach their verdict.
Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on one count of aggravated robbery and two 13-year prison sentences for the remaining two counts of aggravated robbery related to the home invasion, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
“Let’s talk about her w unfair the “Justice” System is tho, like at such young ages they are throwing our brothers, sons, nephews, grandsons away everyday,” she wrote. “At a young age as 15-20 our brains are not even fully developed yet. Our decision making is definitely not where it supposed to be, the reason we make so many mistakes when we’re young.
She continued, “Just think you haven’t gotten caught up on or had to face real judicial consequences for HALF the stuff we did at a young age. I think instead of teaching our sons, brothers, etc. that they dangerous, or ghetto, or worthless maybe some REHABILITATION. The world traps our young men in such a vicious cycle it’s NOT FAIR. There’s no way my brother should have gotten 30+ years for a crime that was committed at the age of 15years old, he did NOTHING violent.”
In November 2019, Tay-K was indicted on a capital murder charge in Bexar County.
Tay-K is accused of fatally shooting Mark Anthony Saldivar during a robbery on April 23, 2017. The fatal shooting – captured on surveillance – reportedly occurred at a North Side Chick-fil-A at 27 Northeast Loop 410.
Witnesses reportedly saw three people arguing in the back of a black SUV on the Loop 410 access road and someone in the front passenger seat pointed a gun at Saldivar, according to the police report. Saldivar got out of the car and started yelling for help, then stood in front of the SUV. The driver accelerated at Saldivar, but Saldivar held onto the SUV as it swerved, then jumped onto the vehicle after it pulled into the Chick-fil-A parking lot and began kicking the windshield.
The front passenger stepped out of the car, shot Saldivar once, and the four occupants, which included Tay-K, drove off. The identities of the other three suspects are not known at this time.
Police found Saldivar’s body in the restaurant’s parking lot with loose marijuana in his mouth and a bag of the drug underneath him.
Tay-K is accused of being involved in the crime while on the run. Tay-K was placed on house arrest for his role in a deadly home invasion robbery in July 2016. He cut off his ankle monitor in March and remained a fugitive until he was finally captured in late June in New Jersey.
Tay-K is also accused of aggravated robbery charges in Bexar County for allegedly be beating a then 65-year-old man.
Tay-K can possibly receive a life sentence for those crimes. He can’t be given the death penalty because he was a minor when he allegedly committed the crimes.
“He harmed NOBODY,” Kayla Renee wrote. “The outcome was not INTENTIONAL. He did not walk into this situation believing someone’s life would be taken (rational or not, it’s scientifically proven our decision making is not no where near developed yet). It’s all w cycle, our boys end up dead or in jail, or murdered by police. These white young men are not going through this IJS. #freemybrothertho”
