Shyne Tells Blacks & Latinos To Wake Up!

The George Zimmerman trial has polarized much of America and even more so following Saturday’s verdict.

A jury, comprised of six women, deliberated for more than 16 hours before finding George Zimmerman not guilty.

The Hip Hop community voiced their reactions in droves immediately following the outcome.

Never one shy to voice his opinion, rapper Shyne took to social media to plead with the nation’s people of color to mobilize for action.

The “Gangland” called for Blacks and Latinos to wake up.

“Wake up Black & Brown babies! America thinks more about dogs than they do U! Michael Vick went to jail but Zimmerman goes home?” he asked.

Shyne, whose name is Moses Levi, compared Michael Vick’s dog fighting case to Zimmerman’s case to articulate his position on inequality.

Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison in 2007 for his role in a dog fighting operation.

Shyne is calling for men of color to take education seriously.

“Wake up Black & brown Men! Stop trying to be a rappers & educate yourselves Prepare yourselves for this God less America,” he wrote.

Shyne commented on Florida’s horrible track record on integrity, mentioning the controversial 2000 presidential election where political factions alleged discrepancies with voting.

“What do u expect from the state that stole the election & placed one of the most murderous criminal in history In the White House,” Shyne.

Shyne wrote Black and Latino life is valued less than others.

“When they see black and brown they see 3/5 th of a human!!! How do u murder a baby??? That’s because when they see us they see nothing

“Don’t think because u have a half black president that means anything!!! The dark & brown are still looked upon with disdain by some in USA,” Shyne wrote.
Shyne’s statement has historical relevance.

African Americans’ history in the country has been horrid. Following the momentous Civil Rights era, the country took steps to eradicate the disastrous effects of slavery and Jim Crow.

This Civil Rights era earned African Americans the rights to be considered “fully” human, as opposed to three-fifths following the ratification of the 13th amendment.

Many proponents of the Martin family believed Zimmerman was the aggressor in the altercation that led to Martin’s shooting death.

Martin left his father’s fiancé’s home on a rainy Feb. 26 night to pick up snacks to enjoy with the NBA All-Star game. Zimmerman, who was acting as neighborhood watch, pursued Martin after deeming the Miami-Dade teen suspicious.

Zimmerman shot 17-year-old Martin following a confrontation. Zimmerman alleged he was acting in self-defense.

If convicted of second-degree murder, Zimmerman could have been sentenced to a minimum of 25 years without parole and a maximum of life in prison.

A lesser charge of manslaughter could have given Zimmerman up to a 30-year prison sentence.

“I’m speechless…..as usual the American injustice system fails!!! There are two standards in The USA One for Justin beiber & one for tray,” he wrote.
