Whitney Houston never had the privilege of joining a Divine Nine Sorority organization.
Despite having no affiliation with any National Pan-Hellenic Council org, the Queen of Pop was indeed a supporter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
A photo surfaced online showing the late Ms. Houston throwing up the historically African American fraternity’s signature hooks while surrounded by members of the org.
It’s no surprise Houston would have favored the Nasty Que Dogs as she was once married to Bad Boy of R&B Bobby Brown.
Today would have been Houston’s 50th birthday. She died Feb. 11, 2012 of accidental drowning in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, CA.
Houston’s soulful vocal talents earned her many accolades as one of Pop music’s best selling artists with over 200 million records sold worldwide.
Omega Psi Fraternity, Inc. is the first black fraternity found at a historically black college university. Founded on Nov. 17, 1911, the fraternity is dedicated to its Cardinal Principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift. The fraternity’s members include civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, comedian and philanthropist Bill Cosby and radio host Steve Harvey, to name a few.
