Lil Durk issued a response to the senseless killing of Renisha McBride.

The “Signed To The Streets” rapper posted a screenshot of a news story releated to McBride with a caption, reading, “This a reason we act the way we do!!!!!!!!”



McBride lost her life at the young age of 19 early Saturday, Nov. 2. McBride was shot in the face while seeking help after being involved in a car accident.

A homeowner near the scene of the accident says she found McBride disoriented with bruises and lacerations, according to CBS News. She recalled McBride repeatedly saying, “I want to go home, I want to go home,” before going into her house to call 911. When the homeowner returned back outside, she found Mcbride gone.

McBride wandered a Dearborn Heights neighborhood for what police say was an hour before arriving at the porch of a 54-year-old homeowner.

No charges have yet to be filed against the unidentified man who believed McBride was attempting to break into his home.

McBride’s family is angered that the suspect has not been arrested.

The Wayne County prosecutor’s office asked authorities to investigate the matter further before issuing an arrest.

Detroit pastor W.J. Rideout slammed authorities for waiting to arrest the suspect.

“He shouldn’t be free. He killed her,” he told ABCNews.com. “He shot her, whether it was accident or to commit murder or a crime.”

The suspect’s attorney, Cheryl Carpenter, told the Detroit News the shooting was justified.

“I’m confident when the evidence comes it will show that my client was justified and acted as a reasonable person would who was in fear for his life,” the Bloomfield Hills-based attorney said.

“What is believed to have happened aren’t the facts and are not what happened that night,” she added.

Gerald Thurswell, the McBride family attorney, told CBS News the suspect should have called 911 if he was in fear of his life.

“He decided to open the door, go out on the porch and put a shotgun in her face…It’s pretty hard for it to be an accident: your finger is on the trigger and the shotgun is in her face,” he said.

The circumstances of McBride’s death mirror the manner in which former FAMU football player Jonathan Ferrell was killed.

Ferrell, 24, had been involved in a near-fatal car accident in Charlotte, NC and sought help from nearby residences, CNN reports. He only escaped the wreckage after kicking out the back window.

A woman phone police after Ferrell repeatedly knocked on her door. Police immediately arrived and Ferrell ran towards them.

Officer Randall Kerrick fired 12 shots at Ferrell, striking him 10 times. He was unarmed.

Kerrick was charged with voluntary manslaughter and released on $50,000 bond.
