Two Florida A&M music professors resigned early Tuesday following a letter from university officials stating intent to fire them, WCTV News reports.
Diron Holloway and Anthony Simons are both members of the band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi and took part initiation hazing rituals conducted at their homes. Hazing rituals included “necking,” which is slaps to the back of a pledge.
Holloway and Simons are no longer being investigated and cannot be charged in hazing students due to a statute of limitations. The hazing incident they are accused of took place in 2010.
Mutaqee Akbar, an attorney representing the two professors, told the Miami Herald “They both decided to resign from the university and pursue other career opportunities.”
