Social media was set ablaze after footage surfaced of Solange Knowles violently beating Jay Z inside an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City. This occurred during the Met Gala held on May 5.
Lil Durk offered his thoughts on the matter during an interview with Hip Hop Weekly.
“You always get past situations like that, but I think I’d be in Chris Brown predicament right now,” Durk said. “I’d be in his shoes. I’d be all over the internet.”
Durk then speculated what might’ve caused Solange’s outburst.
“Only thing I can say is [Jay Z] probably hit her sister,” he continued. “That’s most thing. Anything else, I don’t know.”
Beyonce, Jay Z and Solange were mum on details surrounding the elevator attack in the days following the incident.
Beyonce eventually issued a statement on the matter:
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.
“They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
Photos have since surfaced of the trio all smiles at an outing at the café Amelie in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
