George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman accused of gunning down an unarmed 17-year-old African-American, has turned himself in to the Seminole County Jail in Sanford, Fla.
Zimmerman arrived at the jail less than an hour before the 2:30 p.m. deadline. Zimmerman’s arrest comes nearly six weeks after he was released from the same jail on bail.
Zimmerman and his wife Shelly lied to the court about their available finances at the time of the bond hearing. George Zimmerman amassed more than $200,000 from his website therealgeorgezimmermation.com in donations via PayPal.
Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester also decided to revoke Zimmerman’s bond due to a second passport he failed to disclose.
Zimmerman’s lawyer Mark O’Mara plans to ask for a new bond. If bond isn’t granted, Zimmerman is expected to face the next year or two in jail until the trial begins. The trial isn’t expected to start until 2013.
