Quentin Tarentino has released a trailer for his film “Django Unchained,” a western- styled version of the U.S. slavery era starring Jamie Foxx as the title character.
Hollywood seems to have a sudden fascination with the 19th century. “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” a film based on a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, will soon make its way to theatres.
I viewed the trailer and can’t help but liken the plot to a cliché Blaxploitation plot. Jamie Foxx may just as well be the slave version of Dolemite or Shaft.
The character Django, a freed slave, reportedly seeks revenge on his former slave master. He sets on a journey with Dr. King Schultz, a bounty hunter played by Christoph Waltz, to rescue his wife from an evil plantation owner portrayed by Leonardo Di Caprio.
We’ll reserve judgment on the film till it actually comes out. In the meantime, view the official trailer for film below.
