Nothing could spoil Serena’s moment of capturing her first singles gold medal against Russia’s Maria Sharapova in the summer Olympics.

Even when the U.S. flag fell during her gold medal ceremony, the smile of the 30-year-old Tennis beauty didn’t waver.

The country’s flag was not properly secured causing it to fall after a strong gust of wind hit as it was mounting to the roof of Centre Court.

The crowd groaned during flag flap, but Williams stood proudly on the podium, as an Olympic champ should.

“All these gusts of wind you then see the flag flying and oohhh it was probably flying to come hug me because the flag was so happy, it didn’t quite make it but almost,” she said, laughing. “It was fluttering towards me trying to wrap its fabric around me.”

Williams routed Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 in the most lopsided women’s final in Olympic history.
