The airstrike that killed Qaseem Soleimani in Iran last Friday was the result of Twitter beef between the slain Iranian general and Trump.

Soleimani and Trump engaged in a back-and-forth through Instagram memes starting in 2018.

In July 2018, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani threatened Trump, saying, “America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars.”

Trump then hopped on Twitter issuing a threat of his own to Iran.

Trump wrote, “To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!”

It was after Trump’s tweet that Soleimani stepped in to defend Rouhani.

“It is not in our president’s dignity to respond to you,” he told Trump via Iran’s Tasnim new agency, according to the Washington Post. “If you begin the war, we will end the war. You know that this war will destroy all that you possess.”

Soleimani then took the beef to Instagram when shared a meme of the White House exploding to his 70,000 Instagram followers. Soleimani had the 2013 film ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ poster remade where it showed himself holding a walkie-talkie in front an exploding White House and U.S. flag. His Instagram has since been deleted.

Trump showed he wasn’t for none after exiting the United States from a three-year-old nuclear deal with Iran that former President Obama hooked up with the Middle Eastern country in 2015.

In November 2018, Trump then showed he could also be funny when he remade a “Game of Thrones: Winter is coming” poster featuring himself with the tagline “SANCTIONS ARE COMING” in GOT-styled font.

Soleimani responded to Trump a day later with his Game of Thrones-inspired poster featuring himself with the tagline “I WILL STAND AGAINST YOU” in GOT-styled font.
