Bow Wow and Migos were embroiled in a heated beef last December over the origin of the dab dance.



Bow Wow clarified the whole ordeal during an interview with RealTalk NY.

“The word ‘dab,’ ‘dabbing,’ that’s a part of the smoker’s culture,” Bow Wow explained. “…[Dab rigs?], concentrates, that’s dabbing. That’s called taking a dab. One of my closest friends – shout out to my boy Shaggy at Wentfarms – super bonefied stoners. He said that to me. I said damn it kinda makes sense cause it’s so many times I sneeze, if I can’t cover my hands.”

Last year, Bow Wow described dabbin as a “strong way to smoke marijuana.”

“It’s the purest form of marijuana,” he said.

“ …The dance come from when you smoke and you cough and first thing you is (coughs),” Bow wow said before doing the dance.

“…It now it’s just to the point where it’s so commercial like it’s out of control,” Bow Wow continued. “…I’m quite frankly tired of seeing people dab.”

Bow Wow told RealTalk NY he doesn’t know why Migos “took it out of context.”

“I didn’t overhype everything I say,” he said. “We didn’t mean nothing by it. It’s a dance. I’m not beefing over a dance. If they felt like they invented the dab movement, they felt like they took that terminology ‘dab’ and made it a dance, if they feel like that’s theirs then they have a right to feel some type of way. I have no issues with no one.”
