Charges Dismissed Against Two Men Charged In BTY YoungN’s Death

Two men charged in BTY YoungN’s murder have been released from jail after their charges were dismissed last month, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Court Records reportedly show the murder charges were dismissed on Friday, Feb. 23.

Darryl Bannister Jr., 32, and Kyron William, 27, were both charged with second-degree murder in the Cash Money rapper’s death.

BTY YoungN, whose real name is Desmone Jerome, was shot and killed April 29, 2017 outside a Shell gas station in Lil Wayne’s old Hollygrove neighborhood.

Darryl was named a suspect in YoungN’s death about two weeks after the shooting after his cellphone was found on the ground near the rapper’s body. Surveillance footage showed the phone was dropped and left behind by one of two shooters who shot YoungN.

Darryl has long proclaimed his innocence since his arrest, saying he lost his phone t a friend’s house party the night of YoungN’s murder.

Kyron was also arrested in May 2017 after his finger prints were found on Darryl’s cellphone.

“Based upon the totality of evidence available, we decided it was not prudent to proceed to trial at this time,” said Ken Daley, a spokesman for District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro’s office.

YoungN began making a name for himself for his eccentric lifestyle. He notably caught social media’s attention in December 2016 when he walked into an Audi dealership with a drawstring backpack full of cash.

Glenn Bell, YoungN’s cousin, was present at the crime scene. Bell told NOLA.com it’s not the end of BTY YoungN’s rapper career.

“Rap is his career, not was,” Bell told Nola.com. “He’s going to live on.”

YoungN has a large catalog of music online. He has released numerous singles, including “Materialistic,” “Far From Over,” “It’s Whatever,” “When I Was” and more.
