Twin brothers Jarrell and Jerome Lucas of Chicago have taken to Kickstarter in hopes of raising $25,000 to complete their feature length documentary “Bucket.” The film project is about the bucket boys of Chicago.
The Lucas Brothers created a video pitch to appeal to donors to help make their film a reality. They provided viewers a brief history of the Bucket Boys and a brief synopsis of their film.
“[Bucket Boys] are young talented teens that originated from the South Side of Chicago in the mid-90s,” Jerome said. “They use their percussive drumming skills for everyday survival.
“Majority of them live in poverty,” he continued. “Most are homeless. I’ve been filming these young, talented guys for a year now and it amazes me how quickly they can draw a crowd and put on a show.”
The brothers’ Kickstarter fundraiser ends Monday, Aug. 19. The brothers have raised more than $1,500 so far in their campaign.
