Today happened to be a special day for Chief Keef. Members of the Black Disciples nationwide celebrate Feb. 4 in honor of their gang.
“2-4-14 Black Disciple Nation!,” he wrote.
Chief Keef reps the 300 faction of the Black Disciples. Sosa hails from O’Block in South Side Chicago, a major stronghold of the street gang.
David Barksdale formed the Black Disciple Nation in 1966 after his gang Devil’s Disciples joined with other area gangs in the Englewood neighborhood.
Barksdale would go on to unite the BDs with Larry Hoover’s Supreme Gangster to form the Black Gangster Disciple Nation in 1969.
Barksdale went under the name “King David” and adopted Judaism’s six-point star for the gang. Barksdale later died from kidney failure in 1974 as a result of a shooting in 1967
The Black Disciples later disbanded from the Black Gangster Disciples following a disagreement with the direction of the organization.
