Chicago femcee Chin Chilla Meek noticed something peculiar occurring in the industry.
The “Letter To My Ex” artist claimed the industry is swagger jacking the Windy City’s urban community.
“Ni**as don’t even realize the industry is CHICAGO right now. From they wat we talk, our lingo, our style of fashion! They coping all that!!!” she wrote.
Chicago’s slang terms have undeniably been used by many inside and outside of the industry.
For example, terms “thot,” “fufu,” and “opp” have become urban and suburban America’s new cool term to utter.
Thot is a term used to describe a promiscuous woman. Fufu is the shortened version of fugazi, meaning fake. Opp is a shortened term for opposition.
Young Chop echoed Meek’s revelation in December 2013, claiming to have started the trend of “thot” and “fufu” going mainstream.
“NIGGAZ AINT START SAYIN ‘THOT’ & ‘FUFU’ UNTIL @ChiefKeef & @youngchopbeatz
“Nbs,” he wrote.
Popular Chi Town videographer Dgainz echoed those remarks.
“Everybody saying Thot now lol,” he wrote on Twitter.
Hip Hop celebs have even adopted the terms.
The Game recently dropped a single titled “Thot.”
In the Young Chop-produced single “Guap,” Big Sean raps, “You fugazi, b-boss up, boss up with your time dog.”
106 & Park host Bow Wow referred to women as thots in a tweet, writing, “Have about a million thots sending me dirty videos & pix on this new IG private messenger. It aint thirst no more these h*** is parched.”
50 Tyson also used the term on Twitter, writing, “But i can’t wife a thot See its levels to this shit..”
50 Cent offered his rules on keeping a thot.
NFL Free Agent defined thot as “Some1 more adventurous than the average human that’s chastised by society 4 promiscuous horizontal activity.”
Popular producer Young Chop previously sat down with TMI to define the term.
“Thot is a girl that like to give herself up quick…like the first day you meet her,” the “I Don’t Like Producer said. “A ‘thotiana’ is a skrag of all skrags.”
Chief Keef elaborated on term on Twitter earlier this year.
“Thot = That Hoe Over There Thots = Them Hoes Over There,” he wrote.
Chief Keef occasionally uses the term in his music.
In “My Niggas,” Chief Keef raps, “B*tch, I got a lot of f*cking thots.”
Chief Keef’s past thot anthems include “Love No Thotties” and “Lots Of Thots.” Chief Keef latest ode to these women is “Thots Gone Krazy.”
