Grammy award winning Christian rapper Lecrae performed and sat down with 106 & Park host Bow Wow to discuss Chief Keef’s reported decision to get baptized.
Rumors flew during Chief Keef’s time in juvenile detention that he would be getting baptized.
Bow Wow asked Lacrae if he could see a person with a background like Chief Keef truly wanting to turn his life over to God
Lecrae responded, “I respect anybody’s decision to say I need a closer relationship with God. I think we all just need people in our lives to just help us kind of walk through that. You know what I’m saying. Shout out to Rev. Run for the model he set. You know just having people like that around you to kind of help you walk through that. And if Chief Keef got that type of people, more power to him.”
Rev. Corey Brooks of Chicago told the Chicago Sun-Times he planned to baptize the Interscope artist upon his release from the Illinois Youth Center.
Chief Keef, born Keith Cozart, served 60 days in juvenile detention for violating his probation.
Brooks said he visited the “I Don’t Like” rapper and will baptize him at his non-denominational New Beginnings Church in the Woodlawn neighborhood, according to the Sun Times.
Brooks told the Sun Times Chief Keef “has had a chance to think. He is an entertainer, that is how he sees himself. But at the same time, he has a God-consciousness. He is not some terror who is wreaking havoc.”
