More details have emerged behind the reasoning Kodak Black was taken to jail. Bill Kapri was arrested for lying on an application to purchase a gun.
Prosecutors are attempting to keep Project Baby behind bars as he awaits trial on his case, Miami Heralds reports.
Kodak, wearing a jumpsuit and shackles, made an appearance in federal court Monday.
Kodak was arrested as he was preparing to perform at Rolling Loud music festival at Hard Rock stadium.
Kodak’s indictment is due to him to filling out a Firearms Transaction Record, or Form 4473, a federal document that must be completed to buy a gun from a registered dealer. Kodak’s attorney Brad Cohen told Miami Herald the rapper check “no” when asked if was currently under indictment for a crime.
As a convicted felon, Kodak is not allowed to own a gun under Florida state law.
The indictment states Kodak lied twice on the forms, in January and March, for purchases or attempted purchases at Lou’s Police Distributors, a popular gun store in Hialeah.
The forms asks the applicant is he or she is facing an indictment or “information in any court” for a felony in which a judge could send him or her to prison for than a year.
Federal prosecutors will return to court on Wednesday to ask a judge to keep Kodak behind bars.
