A Madisonville Tradewater Pirates player died only days after reporting to summer league, the Bowling Green Daily News reports.
Reid Rizzo, 20, reportedly died in his bed at his host family’s home. Authorities do not suspect foul play.
The Cincinnati native was playing for the Pirates in the Ohio Valley League, according to the Daily News.
Rizzo had a stellar sophomore season at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Oh, where he batted .252 with 41 hits, 18 RBIs and 14 stolen bases, according to Daily News.
David Massamore, a co-owner and a member of the board of directors for the Pirates, said Rizzo “had such a bright future.”
Autopsy results are pending.
