Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Donates $2,000 to Boys and Girls Club



Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is never a fraternity shy to give back to the community. After all, scholarship and uplift are one of their founding principles, WPDE reports.

The Alpha Beta Beta chapter of the fraternity donated $2,000 to Hartsville, Sc Boys and Girls Club Tuesday.

The fraternity provided the gift to aid children who were not able to afford the cost of membership.

The donation will provide 22 children the opportunity to take part in three reading and math sessions at the club, WPDE reports.

The chapter in instrumental in providing thousands of dollars in scholarship money each year to deserving children in the Darlington County community, according to WPDE.

Founded on Nov. 17, 1911, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is the first African American fraternity to be founded on historically black university campus. Dedicated to its principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift, the fraternity has been very active in the communities they serve.

Notable members in the fraternity include Rev. Jesse Jackson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Steve Harvey and Steve Harvey.
