Meek Mill is mourning the loss of Baltimore rapper Lor Scoota. Scoota, born Tyriece Travon Watson, 23, was fatally shot in his hometown Saturday, according to WBAL-TV 11.
On IG, Meek Mill wrote, “Damn #lorscoota I seen so many young n****s fall victim Tryna make it out #restup.”
Scoota was murdered just after hosting a charity basketball game at Morgan State University. Witnesses reportedly said Scoota was driving along a roadway when a shooter wearing a white bandanna stepped into the street and opened fire.
Scoota was taken to the hospital with a single gunshot wound where he was listed in critical condition before dying.
Councilman Nick J. Mosby released a statement about Watson’s death.
“I am saddened to hear about the senseless murder of (Tyriece) ‘Lor Scoota’ Watson. He had a heart for youth and took the time out of his schedule to join me on my #EyeAmBaltimore Tour to high schools in West Baltimore following last year’s uprising where he spoke about the importance of staying in school.
“Tonight, he had just completed hosting the “Touch the People Pray for Peace in These Streets” Charity Basketball Game at Morgan State University when his life tragically ended.
“To the Watson family, and youth throughout the City of Baltimore, please accept my condolences for this loss.”
