Chino of Meek Mill’s Dreamchasers knows first-hand how dangerous the streets of Baltimore can be.

Chino opened up on his shooting during an interview with the Baltimore Sun.

“It felt crazy to me because I was never in the streets, beefing with anybody or anything like that,” Chino said. “I felt like everybody in Baltimore loved me because I get so much love when I’m in the City. I didn’t even get where that had came from. I never thought someone would wanna do that to me.”

Chino said he was a victim of a walk-up shooting.

“I was sitting in the car,” he explained. “About to get out the car and someone just came up and started shooting. I got shot. It was two times- one grazed me and one of the bullets still in my head. I feel blessed and feel like I’m on earth for a reason. There’s a purpose for me being here and I’m just trying to take things to the next level.”

Chino said his own shooting wasn’t enough to open his eyes to the realities of hate. It was the tragic June 26 shooting of Lor Scoota that put him on edge.

Scoota, born Tyriece Travon Watson, 23, was fatally shot in Baltimore right after hosting a charity basketball game at Morgan State University. Witnesses reportedly said Scoota was driving along a roadway when a shooter wearing a white bandanna stepped into the street and opened fire.

“I should’ve really woke up after my situation, but the situation with Scoota really woke me up and made me know that everybody is for they self in Baltimore,” Chino said. “Nobody wanna so nobody else shine. We labeled as crabs. Crabs pull each other down in the pot. That’s what everybody do here.”
