Samuel Markus Dye

A 20-year-old Chester, NC man is accused of attempting to sexually assault his own grandmother after venting about not having a “girlfriend,” The Charlotte Observer reports.

Samuel Markus Dye allegedly went to his 61-year-old grandmother’s home early Thursday morning complaining about not having a girlfriend. Dye reportedly had a hammer in hand before telling the woman he was going to “get some,” according to a police report obtained by the Observer.

Dye then used the hammer to repeatedly strike her in the head. He knocked her to the ground and climbed on top of her to rape her. The woman’s 43-year-old son heard her screams and pulled Dye off of her.

The son detained Dye until police arrived. Dye was arrested and is currently being held at the Chester County Detention Center.

Dye is charged with attempted murder and attempted criminal sexual conduct.
