Dartmouth College is being investigated for allegations of hazing. A fraternity at the school allegedly had pledges eat and swim in vomit.

T.J. Lane’s aunt spoke out in response to the Chardon High School Feb. 27 shooting that left three students dead and two others injured. Lane is charged three counts of aggravated murder.

Sybrina Fulton, mother of slain Miami-Dade teenager Trayvon Martin, held a news conference Sunday, March 11 at a Miami Gardens church for her son, who was murdered by a neighborhood watchman. George Zimmerman shot the 17-year-old Krop High School junior as he walked to his father’s fiancés home from buying Skittles and an Arizona drink. He first called police to report a “suspicious person in the area” before following the youth in his vehicle.

There has been old phrase that when the country catches a cold, African Americans catch the flu. In this instance, African Americans have been trying to kick the flu bug for nearly 50 years.

A controversial anti-police rally called “F*ck the Police” in downtown Denver led to five arrests Saturday, March 10. An estimate of 60 to 70 people were involved in the melee.

Earlier this year, the University of California’s Academic Senate recommended students having the option to identify sexual orientation. Despite some optimism, the UC Board of Admissions and Relations with School conclude the information would allow them to collect important statistical information.

There is controversy surrounding a high school yearbook. A lesbian couple’s photo was removed from a Colorado high school yearbook for showing too much “PDA.”

Fox News’ Sean Hannity sure keeps some interesting people in his company. Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is an African American man who thanks God for slavery. He has appeared on Hannity’s show numerous times and offers his insight on race relations. In the video below, Peterson thanks God for slavery.

The Center for Disease Control estimates that 1 out of every 32 black women will be infected with HIV during her lifetime. Although black women represent only 14 percent of the US female population, they constitute 66 percent of all new HIV infections. The infection rates of black women in the United States rival those in the Congo and Kenya.

Viola Davis has had one heck of year. Coming off her recent Oscar nomination for her role in The Help hasn’t slowed her a bit. Davis is getting back to work as she prepares to take on a new role in a biopic slated to begin production soon. Davis will portray Barbara Jordan, the first African-American elected to the Texas Senate and the first Southern black woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
