Earlier this year, the University of California’s Academic Senate recommended students having the option to identify sexual orientation, CBS2 reports.
Despite some optimism, the UC Board of Admissions and Relations with School conclude the information would allow them to collect important statistical information.
Supporters of the option say the information may support the needs of the LGBT community on campus and also provide a clear estimate of the amount of LGBT members on campus.
The date would be collected form incoming freshmen and transfer student, C BS2 reports.
