Jasmine Curry, a 25-year-old pregnant mother of five was tragically murdered on the Dan Ryan Expressway Wednesday at 4 a.m. in Chicago, according to ABC7 Chicago. The shooting occurred when a gunman in another vehicle opened fire on her blue minivan, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
The passengers in the vehicle included a young woman who was unharmed, according to NBC Chicago. Authorities are looking for another male passenger who fled the scene following the shooting.
Curry suffered tragedy a year ago when her 17-year-old brother Pierce Curry was murdered after he was shot in the head while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle, thr Chicago Tribune reports.
Curry leaves behind three sons and two daughters, ages 1 to 9. She was expecting another child.
Curry’s death follows a violent surge of shootings over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. There were a total of 82 shootings and 16 shootings deaths from Thursday to early Monday morning.
