Rapper Mia X ‘Shocked and Hurt’ By Mr. Magic’s Death



The Hip Hop community is mourning the loss of rapper Mr. Magic. Mr. Magic, born Awood Johnson, and wife Chastity were killed in a tragic car accident Friday, March 1, in Hattiesburg, Miss. The couple’s daughter Twila Wise Johnson was the lone survivor in the fatal accident.

Several members from the now-defunct No Limit Records sent their condolences to the family of Johnson, including Mystikal, Silkk The Shocker, C-Murder and Mia X.

Mia X took to Instagram to upload an image of the emcee and his wife.

“I looked forward tp performing and laughing with you on friday but God chose you to be with him. Chasity was the LOVE of your life so God decided that she should join you. I know yall are in a better place but all of us who loved yall are shocked and hurt,” Mia X wrote on the caption of the photo.



Mr. Magic released three albums under No Limit Records, including “Sky’s the Limit, Thuggin’ and “White Eyes.” “Sky’s the Limit,” hit No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the hip-hop/R&B albums chart.

His last solo album “On My Own,” was released under Koch Records in 2003.

Mr. Magic also joined with Roy Jones, Jr. and Choppa to form Body Head Bangerz. The group released their debut album “Bangerz: Volume One” in 2004.
