Renowned Gospel artist Bebe Winans is scheduled to sing at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL Thursday night, the Arizona Republic reports.
Winans, a registered Democrat who campaigned for President Obama, doesn’t believe he is crossing party lines.
“I want to remind people that before any association with any party that we’re all Americans,” he told The Washington Post. “No matter who wins, if we don’t come together and really invest in the country we love, we’re not going to solve the problems.”
Winans, who sang at 2004 Democratic National Convention, was also set to perform at this year’s DNC in Charlotte, but there was a change of plans.
“The invitation was taken back,” he told The Post. “No hard feelings.”
