Smylez dropped perhaps the realest music video of 2015. It couldn’t have come at a better time as we are quickly approaching 2016.
Smylez tells his life story in his self-produced record. The JoJo World rapper’s story is worthy of a movie script.
Smylez talks growing up in foster care where he was, at times, homeless.
Smylez raps, “N***a, this is where I belong/I became a man today, I stepped into a foster home/Mama behind bars and they kicked us out the shelter zone/Living in hotels cause her husband left us all alone.”
Smylez goes on to talk about going to school hungry and selling dope to get by.
This single happens to be the opening track on Smylez’s “The Villain 2,” which is available for purchase on iTunes. Watch Smylez’s Ogun Pleas-directed music video.
