Chance The Rapper recently directed much criticism toward Spike Lee’s new feature film “Chi-Raq.” But Spike Lee had jabs of his own to send to the “Acid Rap” rapper during an interview with MSNBC.
“His father works for the mayor. He’s the chief of staff, whatever the title is,” Spike Lee said of Ken Bennett who is deputy chief of staff and director of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Office of Public Engagement. “If he’s so concerned about Chicago, show me where he’s made a criticism about the mayor.”
Spike noted Mayor Rahm has been under fire for his alleged role in covering up the murder of Laquan McDonald. There is now a federal civil rights investigation into the Chicago Police Department in the wake of the 17-year-old boy’s tragic murder.
“The feds are in town,” Spike said.
Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke has been charged with first-degree murder in the teen’s death. He has since been released from jail after posting 10 percent of his $1.5 million bond.
Chance The Rapper proclaimed in a heated Twitter rant that he’s not in support of “Chi-Raq.”
“Let me be the one from Chicago to personally tell you we not supporting this film out here

“Just clarifying, I’m not damning the director of the film or anyone involved in making it. I am damning the film and the ideas it conveys,” he wrote on Twitter.
