Troy Ave is currently in the hospital after suffering two gunshot wounds on Sunday, Dec. 25, according to multiple reports. The “Riding In My Whip” rapper was shot in his hometown of Brooklyn while sitting in his red Maserati, according to the New York Post.
Troy, whose birth name is Roland Collins, was caught off guard when a shooter walked up to his driver-side window and let off several shots.
Troy was grazed in the head and struck once in the arm in a shooting that occurred in Canarsie at East 91st Street and Linden Blvd around 4:20 p.m., according to the New York Daily News.
Troy drove his vehicle off the road before leaving his car at the crime scene and managing to get himself to Brookdale hospital, which is about six blocks away. He is currently in stable condition.
“Tonight, Troy Ave was targeted again… on Christmas,” his attorney Scott Leemon, said in a written statement obtained by the Daily News. “In Brooklyn, going to meet his family for the holiday, he was shot two times. Thankfully, he will survive the second attempt on his life. As we have said from the beginning — he is a victim. We pray for his speedy recovery.”
Troy is currently accused of attempted murder for shooting into a crowd at Irving Plaza on May 25. He can be seen in surveillance footage firing a gun in the shooting left his friend Ronald McPhatter dead. Troy also accidentally shot himself during the melee.
Troy Ave was indicted in Manhattan Supreme Court on one charge of second-degree attempted murder, and four counts of weapons possession.
