A three-year-old Chicago boy was left in critical condition in the hospital after he was shot Friday night, according to CBS Chicago. The bullet struck the boy in his abdomen and exited through his hip, according to NBC Chicago.
Police have now arrested and charged two men in the shooting, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
Alger Sanchez, 19, and Anton Aseves, 22, were charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, according to the Chicago Tribune. Both men were ordered held without bond, according to CBS Chicago.
The shooting allegedly occurred following a confrontation between two gang members, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said, according to the Tribune.
The suspects allegedly exchanged words with the boy’s mother and another man before the shooting, according to CBS Chicago.
The boy is expected to recover from his injuries.
