Chicago native Chief Keef took to Twitter to send his condolences to slain rapper Lil’ JoJo’s family. South Side Chicago resident Lil JoJo, born Joseph Coleman, was murdered in a hail of gunfire Tuesday night hours following a dispute with a member of Keef’s camp. Coleman allegedly had an ongoing dispute with Chief Keef’s entourage and members of the Black Disciple street gang.

“Man, been thinkin bout this chicago street shit a lot. My prayers go out 2 Jojo’s family on their loss,” the Interscope rapper tweeted.

Coleman, 16, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting as he was riding on the back pegs of a friend’s bike. Witnesses described the vehicle as a tan, older model, four-door Ford Taurus that was riding low in the back, according to the Sun Times. Coleman died minutes after being shot.

Chief Keef, born Keith Cozart, sent social media into an outrage after laughing at news of Coleman’s death on his Twitter account. Many speculated the tweet linked the “Don’t Like” rapper to the crime.

“Its Sad Cuz Dat N***a Jojo Wanted To Be Jus Like Us #LMAO,” he wrote.

But Chief Keef wanted to let it be known he had nothing to do with the fallen teen’s murder.

“i didn’t know him but he young jus like me,” he wrote. “i can assure everyone that i had nothin 2 do with this tragedy tho. my twitter acct was hacked.”

A video is circulating on the Internet showing Lil Jojo and Keef’s associate Lil’ Reese getting into a war of words. This event occurred just hours before Coleman was murdered. The video may serve as evidence for authorities in pinpointing Coleman’s murderer.

“I’ma kill you! I’ma kill you!” Lil’ Reese can be heard on the footage saying.

The negative attention Chief Keef is receiving from the murder has prompted the young emcee to take a break from Twitter.

“since i was put in a messed up spot i think that i finna sign off this twitter shit for awhile or at least til my album drops on 11/27!” he wrote.

But the rapper, born Keith Cozart, said music is his focus and he wants to tell the story of Chicago.

“i got a LOTTA shit 2 say but this aint da place…my music is,” he wrote. “i love chicago & i wanna make this shit big for us! tell our story. #300”

Chicago police are continuing their investigation into Coleman’s murder and have members of the Black Disciples pinpointed as prime suspects. Keef and Lil Reese are affiliated with the gang and can be hear occasionally referencing the “3 hunna (300)” in songs.
