The 17-year-old suspect behind the shooting spree at Chardon High School that left three students dead and two other students injured is scheduled to appear in court today.
T.J. Lane will appear in Geauga County Juvenile Court for a procedural hearing at 3 p.m., ABC 5 reports. It is expected that a date will be set for Lane for a competency evaluation to determine if he is mentally stable to stand trial.
Lane reportedly is not eligible to face the death penalty due to a 2005 U.S. Supreme Court decision. The maximum sentence he could get is life in prison without parole.
