A Chicago teen was charged with first-degree murder after allegedly killing her newborn son, the Chicago Tribune reports. She was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Prosecutors allege 18-year-old Ana Rosa Mora, who had given birth inside her home, killed her baby out of fear her boyfriend would leave her due to the child resembling his father.

Mora allegedly wrapped the newborn child inside a Wal-Mart plastic bag and left him to die in a gangway near her home. The Kelvyn Park High School senior then went back home where she went to sleep. The child was discovered a few hours later by a construction worker.

School officials aware of Mora’s pregnancy grew suspicious after she allegedly asked them if police had the right to take DNA from people in her house and whether DNA would show who the mother of child found new her home was, the Tribune reports.

School officials reportedly grew even more suspicious after Mora told an officer at the school her newborn was 6 months old.

Mora was later arrested and allegedly confessed to the crime, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
