The parents of a teen are planning to file a $16 million lawsuit against a Brooklyn junior high school after their son was left blind in his right eye following a brutal attack in the school’s cafeteria, The New York Daily News reports.
Two suspects allegedly hurled anti-gay slurs and beat 14-year-old Kardin Ulysses in a June 5 attack at Roy H. Mann Junior High School. Ulesse’s injuries include a damaged cornea in his right eye that left him blind.
The student has already undergone two surgeries and may need a transplant to restore his eyesight back, the teen’s father Pierre Ulysse told Huffington Post.
“The doctor says he needs a transplant,” Pierre said. “For me to send him to school with two eyes and come back with one eye is really absurd. I want the world to know about this.”
In the brutal attack, two seventh graders allegedly held the student down as they repeatedly punched him in the face as they yelled “f**king f***ot,” “transvestite” and “gay,” according to The Huffington Post.
According to FindLaw.com, the student’s junior high school is facing another bullying lawsuit by a 13-year-old student over an alleged pattern of bullying.
