11-Year-Old Girl Among 27 People Shot Over Father’s Day Weekend In Chicago



A string of 27 shootings over Father’s Day weekend claimed the lives of two people in Chicago, according to NBC Chicago. A total of three teens were shot, including a pre-teen.

Brandon Peterson, 17, suffered a gunshot wound to the head just after midnight Sunday on the City’s West Side. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Dewey Knox, 27, was murdered in a drive-by shooting Friday on the West Side after he was shot in the back.

An 11-year-old girl was among three victims shot in a group shooting after a gunman riding a bicycle reportedly shot her in the ankle. She was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition. A 17-year-old girl was shot in the leg and taken in good condition to John H Stroger JR. Hospital. A 19-year-old man suffered wounds to his ankle and thighs.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the foot and taken to an area hospital in good condition.

The shootings this year are down from Father’s Day weekend 2013. There were 46 people shot and seven fatalities last year.
