Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz opened up on the Sunday, June 9 robbery attempt that nearly claimed his life days after surveillance footage leaked showing the crime take place.

The “Birthday Song” rapper initially denied being robbed after news hit social media of the incident.

2 Chainz, formerly known as Tity Boi, described in detail the events that took place during an interview with Atlanta’s Hot 97.

2 Chainz, who was walking in downtown San Francisco, told the Hot 97 crew he “saw the gun first.”

“It was like a .357,” he explained. “It was so heavy he couldn’t really hold it. People were saying he was skipping…he couldn’t hold it. The gun was so big. That’s what made me take off running.”

2 Chainz said there were actually two gunmen. It was after this revelation; the 35-year-old rapper realized “it wasn’t like an episode of ‘Punk’d.’”

“I was like this is real,” he said.

2 Chainz, born Tauheed Epps, said there were actual bullet fragments in his hair from the shooting.

“When I got back on the sidewalk I start swerving,” he continued. “I don’t know if the momentum from the shot… cause I had like bullet fragments in my hair. Like the police when they came, they were like what happened here. They told me don’t move. I just left. They was tryna say my adrenaline was pumping so much that maybe I was shot, but I knew I wasn’t shot. G thought I was shot. Ace, they I was shot.”

2 Chains ultimately fell down during the chase. As the unidentified suspect approached the Def Jam artist, he asked, ‘Where them bands at.’”

Before being robbed of his Blackberry and iPhone smartphone devices, 2 Chainz replied, “Bruh, I don’t have no bands on me.”

“I think he thought he shot me,” he said. “Because when he ran up on me, he started like walking. He was breathing heard.”

Despite a police report being filed, 2 Chain, born Tauheed Epps, took to Twitter to slam all speculation about being robbed.

“Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken. Rings, chains, watch , money etc. 2 answer that question



“Rule#2 if a rapper gets shot he usually go to hospital or dies,” he wrote.
