3 Suspects Nabbed in Marvin Winans Carjacking and Assault Case

Police have arrested three men suspected of assaulting and carjacking Detroit’s own gospel singer Marvin Winans, The Associated Press wrote.

Suspects Montoya Givens and Christopher Moorehead, both 20, and Brian K. Young, 18, were charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery and conspiracy.

The suspects reportedly appeared in Detroit’s 36th district Court and ordered held on $200,000 bond.

The suspects allegedly robbed Winans of cash and his Luxury SUV, according to WXYZ-TV.

Winans, 54, told police he was attacked by four or five young men as he fueled his vehicle.

Winans, pastor of Perfecting Church on Detroit’s side, was “saddened” by what happened, saying, “this kind of nonsense just has to stop.”

“It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the streets,” he said.

If convicted, the young men face a maximum of life in prison.
