A former Wayne State University student was brutally beaten in hazing ritual conducted by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Fox 2 reports.
Eric Walker, 21, transferred to the university in hopes of becoming a doctor. He expressed interest in the fraternity and later became a pledge.
What happened next was 32 days of a hazing ritual that left Walker’s chest “black, red, purplish.”
“I thought this fraternity would be something that would… broaden my horizons,” he told Fox 2.
Walker landed in hospital after a brutal beating took place that involved members of the fraternity form all over the region.
“They told me to stand up straight, and they would be hitting me in my chest or my back,” he told Fox 2. “Often, I would be getting hit from behind with a paddle and then hit on my back at the same time.”
The beating landed Walker at the University of Michigan Hospital for over a week, Fox 2 reports. The beating bruised his lungs and caused his kidneys to shut down.
