Woodley, a reported suspect in four other homicides, was close friends with Big L and even appeared on the back cover of the rapper’s 1995 debut album “Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous.”

Authorities believe a falling out between Big L and Woodley led to the rapper’s murder. Big L was believed to have been a part of stick up kids that robbed drug dealers. Woodley allegedly didn’t like this.

Woodley was arrested after Big L was found on Feb. 15, 1999 with nine gunshot wounds to the face and chest. But Woodley was released after the Manhattan District Attorney didn’t have enough witnesses and any incriminating surveillance footage.

Police believe Woodley’s recent business dealings in New Jersey led to his murder. Woodley’s murder comes less than a year after he was released from prison in September 2015 after serving four years on a weapons charge.
