Chi Hoover Talks Chicago Hip Hop and GDK/BDK Controversy

Chi Hoover drew inspiration for his mixtape “No Love Giving” from the heartless streets of Chiraq as revealed in his interview with Zack TV. The “She Know It” rapper said there’s no love in his City. Furthermore, he stated this lack of love is preventing his hometown from coming together and taking over Hip Hop.

“Where I come from, that’s Chicago. Don’t know nobody show love here,” he told Zack TV. “If everybody was on one accord, Chicago would be the top number one city on the Hip Hop music scene. We influence the country. Everybody know that Chicago set the trend. We make people say thots and drill, opps and all this sh-t. People following our trend. It’s just the people in Chicago that ain’t on the same page. If everybody was on the same page and no ego sh-t, we a win. We a be like Cali and all the rest of these states that got plenty of artists that’s popping off. Instead, it ain’t like that. N*ggas still local.”

Chi says he doesn’t know how to explain why the level of hatred is so high in Chicago.

“I can’t even tell you,” he said. “I think it’s just one of those things that was birthed. It’s like one of those things that continue to grow. It just get wilder and wilder.”

Chi says the GDK/BDK mentality is hurting Chicago.

“The GDK/BDK sh-t don’t bring me no money,” he said. “My kids can’t eat off that sh-t. At the end of the day, I’m a man.”

But Chi remains hopeful that it’d one day end.

“I ain’t gon say it won’t. I’m always a hopeful motherf-cker,” he said. “It’s gon take the right motherf-ckers to get together to make it happen.”
