Chicago Man Kills Cheating Girlfriend and Places Her Dismembered Body In Four Suitcases

A Chicago man has been charged with killing his girlfriend, dismembering her body and disposing of her remains in the Little Calumet River, according Chicago Sun-Times.

Paul Meyers, 33, enlisted the help of his brother Arronis Jackson, 44, to help him dispose of 28-year-old Laneesha Miller’s body after he beat and choked her to death.

Meyers went into a rage after he heard a recording on Miller’s phone of her talking about sleeping with another man. He then reportedly hit her on the head with a hammer. When Miller began crying from the blow, he choked her to death in his home.

Meyers then wrapped Miller’s body in a shower curtain placed it in the trunk of her car, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. He drove around for a while before he dismembered her body. Two days later, Meyers and his brother disposed of the body in the Little Calumet River.

Miller was last seen by her friend in the 9600 block of South Halsted Street on June 16 and last heard from a few days earlier when her father talked to her on the phone. Miller planned to drive back to Atlanta the next day, so could be there for her child’s surgery later that week.

Meyer’s car was found abandoned in the 12100 block of South Wallace, according to DailyMail. There were maggots and blood in the vehicle.

Meyers paid someone to clean the room he was staying in with bleach and other cleaners, according to the Sun Times. He also reportedly got rid of his mattress, which was later recovered in the garbage with red stains.

The trash also contained a piece of Miller’s jewelry.

Miller’s body was discovered the afternoon of Thursday, September 10. Miller’s remains were found in the Marquette Park Lagoon On July 14 after detectives received a tip.

Meyers was charged with one count of first-degree murder, the Chicago Tribune reports. Jackson was charged with concealment of a homicidal death.

The two brothers were ordered held without bond, according to the Sun-Times.
