Chicago Man Kills Girlfriend, Posts Confession On Facebook

A Chicago man has been charged with murder after strangling his girlfriend to death in her home, according to WGNTV. The man then took to social media to admit the heinous crime.

James E. Thomas, 49, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and once count of aggravated assault to a peace officer with a weapon, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Thomas posted on Facebook he killed 49-year-old Vanessa Taylor shortly after he strangled her with a computer cord.

Thomas posted under Taylor’s account, writing, “My girlfriend was part of the mob she came to kill me so I killed her.”

Thomas killed Taylor less than 24 hours after being released from Stroger Hospital for a mental evaluation, according to the Chicago Tribune. Taylor and her son called police on Thomas on Sunday for his erratic behavior. Thomas was reportedly burning grease in the kitchen for no reason. He then put grease and cloth into empty bottles to make Molotov cocktails. He also cut gas line in the kitchen, forcing an evacuation of the apartment building. He wielded a sword and a butcher’s knife before officers were able to subdue him from behind.

Thomas is due back in court on July 21.
