Larry Jackson, an A&R for Interscope Records, is elevating Chief Keef’s sophomore album “Bang 3” to legendary status. Though the project has yet to hit shelves, Jackson compared album to Michael Jackson’s top selling sixth studio album “Thriller.”
Jackson wrote a spirited note to Sosa’s fans via IG.
“Dear angered Chief Keef fans, Since it seems to be of great pleasure and delight for you to bombard and harass me with constant, irate messages regarding the delay of Bang 3, I thought it would warm your heart to see progress being made late last night on the album with @chieffkeeffsossa, @chrischeney and Nahla the Spiritual Shih-tzu. Nahla, our beloved rabbit’s foot, has all picked all Sosa’s successful singles, and loved what she heard last night as expressed through maniacal barking. Based on her excitement, I can assure you that it will be a timeless classic of the caliber of, say, Thriller. Well worth the wait. Comin’ soon. Lay off me now, please. With love, Larry,” the caption read.
Sosa’s debut album “Finally Rich” peaked at 29 on Billboard’s Hot 200 chart. He sold close to 50,000 in its first week.
Sosa announced in early February he was on pace to reach Gold certification after selling 400,000 copies of his album. Sosa’s record deal came with a stipulation that he sell 250,000 copies of “Finally Rich” by the end of 2013.
“Wait Finally Rich Sold over 400thousand Copies With no Promtion! Love All Y’all Scouters & The Doubters,” he wrote.
This tweet came a few months following Sosa’s announcement he surpassed the 300,000 milestone.
“I deserve a lot man. I sold 300thousand Copies,” he wrote.
“All that shit Talkin I know I’m such a big Deal No Promotions, no commercials, And No Tour. Still Sold 300k Copies Almighty,” he wrote on his IG account.
Despite Sosa’s successes, he still has a long way to go before he can place himself on Michael Jackson’s level.
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is the best selling album of all time with 70 million copies sold worldwide, according to USA Today. The album catapulted the King of Pop to legendary status. The album boasts four number one Billboard hits, including, “The Girl Is Mine,” “Billie Jean,” “Beat It” and “Thriller.”
Jackson’s “Billie Jean” music video helped pave the way for other African American artists on MTV after he became first black artist to have a music video played in heavy rotation.
Chief Keef hinted “Bang 3” may drop on his birthday via IG.
The caption on his post read, “We ain’t forgot about dis BANG 3 shit!!! I’m finna go back n da studio n finish dis sh*t off this week.
