Dane Cook Apologizes for Insensitive ‘Dark Knight’ Joke

Comedian Dane Cook

Dane Cook has engulfed himself into a bit of controversy after a not-so-appropriate joke he quipped during a recent comedy gig. Coming off the heels of Daniel Tosh’s “rape” joke, offended many patrons.

During a July 26 show at the Laugh Factory, Dane Cook said, “I know that if none of that had happened, I’m pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, probably was like, ‘Ugh, f**king shoot me.’”

The joke was taken with mixed responses from the audience. As word spread about Cook’s insensitive joke, the comedy took to Twitter to offer an apology.

I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado and did not mean to make light of what happened. I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends of the victims,” Cook wrote.
